EXCLUSIVE: GHISLAINE MUTOMBO INTERVIEW WITH EMAGAZINE FIRST

EMAGAZINE FIRST: There's a lot of misplaced perceptions of what beauty truly is and many blame it on the media. What is your definition of what beauty is?
GHISLAINE: Yes, the media does influence a lot of what beauty is perceived to be. I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion it's beautiful when you accept and love yourself, including all imperfections. It's all about the connection that your inner self makes with your outer self. In the end, beauty is about inner peace, happiness and acceptance. These feelings will always reflect outwards and show true beauty. When I was young, I was teased a lot about my big nose and big lips but I embraced my features and I celebrate them everyday with a flare and a pout.

EMF: Should beauty be preserved or celebrated?
GHISLAINE: Oh yes, it should be celebrated, regardless of what everyone else, especially the media says. People and life are beautiful.

EMF: What's the one thing a girl should never leave the house without?
GHISLAINE: Lip Gloss. A little lip gloss goes a long way.

EMF: Would you tell a "Plus-Size" friend she should at least wear long shirts with her leggings? Why/Why not?

GHISLAINE: Yes. Definitely.Trust me, my friends tell me if I'm a suspect for the fashion police. If she is a close friend and I know her on that level, I would tell her if she needs to cover it up but if it's sexy, it's sexy... why cover it up? Plus sized women can also be beautiful and sexy, you know.

EMF: Do you feel guilty for getting special treatment cause of your looks?

GHISLAINE: No. I have experienced it all. The ugly girl treatment, the pretty girl treatment... whatever. Modelling has taught me that I should take other people's opinion of my looks with a pinch of salt. I don't shoot them down but I also don't dwell on it. When people open doors because they think I'm beautiful, I let them but they often only do it for their own advantage, so I'm cautious. Sometimes people treat me bad because of my looks.

EMF: Every woman wants to look good and its a good thing. At what point should you know you are taking it too far?

GHISLAINE: The Catwoman...! That's just nasty. And scary at the same time. You are taking it too far when you have to get cut just to be prettier. I think every woman should take good care of herself, but when you start buying beauty with a scalpel, there are limits.

EMF: Does confidence make up for what a girl lacks in looks?

GHISLAINE: Definitely. Confidence is sexy! No man wants to sit in the house for hours, convincing their woman that she is beautiful. I have a friend like that but after an hour of preaching the 'beautiful gospel' I'm annoyed and drained.

EMF: Pouting in your pic... Good or bad?

GHISLAINE: It's great! some woman have a natural pout, just don't make it your look. Pout if it's sexy and it looks natural. N.B.: men shouldnt pout. Please, im seing that a lot and its strange...

SARAH B. INTERVIEW - TOPIC: RELATIONSHIPS

PHOTOGRAPHY by Studio K

EMAGAZINE FIRST: What's the one thing every man needs to know about his woman?
SARAH B.: That having her in his life doesn't mean she should no longer have the freedom to live her life.

EMF: Friends of the opposite sex.... Display of trust or recipe for disaster?
SARAH: I believe they put an existing relationship at stake, it starts with jealousy from your partner but that doesn't mean everything should change, your friends should remain as friends and your man as your man.

EMF: What's the dumbest thing a guy has said when asking you out?
SARAH: "Please share with me my table I promise I won't ask you again"

EMF: Have women become too strong OR have men gone weak?
SARAH: Its not about whose gone strong or vice versa, we are in that stage now that anyone can do anything he/she wantsd. There are no longer limitations.

EMF: Do you wear the pants in your relationships?
SARAH: No, I was taught that there must be a difference between a man and a woman in a relationship, but that doesn't mean one must disrespect another.
EMF: Would you agree that some secrets are better taken to the grave?
SARAH: Secrets never made a wise man wiser, secretes have their way of coming out. I strongly believe no house will stand with a weak foundation.

EMF: Is marriage still a socially relevant setup?
SARAH: That's out of my lead, I have never been in one ,but I could say people are still getting married for wrong reasons, like to impress their parents, friends, for wealth and forgetting lust fades quick.

EMF: Do people change?
SARAH: I'm scared to say Yes people do change...they can but not for long so it goes back to they don't change at all.
